See New York Jets and Giants

New York is the city that never sleeps – so it comes as no surprise that the city that does things bigger and better than anywhere else has two franchises in the NFL.

The Jets and the Giants are the only NFL teams to share a stadium – the new MetLife Stadium, located just across the Hudson River from Manhattan in New Jersey.

You can be left in no doubt as to who’s playing at home – the outer skin of the 82,500 capacity arena lights up in blue for the Giants and green for the Jets.

The Giants are – quite literally – giants of the game with eight NFL titles, four since the advent of the Super Bowl. They have won it twice in the 21st Century, both times beating the favourites and east coast rivals New England Patriots.

The Jets are one of the few teams to win their one and only Super Bowl appearance, back in Super Bowl III.  Despite appearing in the play-offs 13 times they haven’t made it back – yet.

See Miami Dolphins in Florida

The Dolphins are one of the most famous franchises in the game – their dolphin logo and aqua and white colours are among the most easily recognisable to millions of fans.

The Dolphins’ fame is well earned – in the early 1970s they became the first – and so far the only – side to go through an entire regular and post-season unbeaten on the way to their first Super Bowl in 1972. A second Super Bowl followed the following year.

Based in the Sunshine State of Florida, the Dolphins have always enjoyed a big following in the UK. Many will remember the legendary Dan Marino in the 80s, voted NFL MVP in 1984.

Their 65,000 capacity Hard Rock Stadium home, in Miami Gardens north of downtown Miami, has been extensively refurbished with the lower level moved right up to the action.

See Chicago Bears live

On the banks of Lake Michigan, the Chicago Bears are one of the oldest franchises formed nearly 100 years ago. And in that time they’ve won more games than any other NFL team.

They have played at Soldier Field since 1971. The arena’s capacity of 61,500 is among the smallest among the super-size stadiums of the NFL but the fans are no less passionate – they are right on top of the action.

The Bears won their one and only Super Bowl in 1985. The 2016 season was a tough campaign but they will be looking to bounce back in 2017 and be the pride of the Windy City once more.

See NFL International Series in the UK

If you can’t make it to the States this year then there are four regular season games in London as part of the hugely popular NFL International Series.

At Wembley Stadium the Baltimore Ravens take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 24, while the New Orleans Saints play the Miami Dolphins on October 1.

Across town at Twickenham Stadium the Arizona Cardinals play the Los Angeles Rams on October 22, with the Minnesota Vikings facing the Cleveland Browns on October 29.
